- Mary Ann went by Betty.
Mary Ann Elizabeth Cagle was her entire maiden name.
In 1909, Betty moved with her family to Ochiltree County, Texas.
In 1913, Betty moved with her family to Texas County, Oklahoma. Betty
attended a country school near the community of Range, Oklahoma.
Betty was employed as a telephone operator in Ochiltree and, in 1917, was
the first telephone operator in the new town of Perryton, Texas.
After one year in Perryton, Betty moved to Shattuck, Oklahoma, and, in 1919, she moved to the Follett, Texas area.
Betty and Robert Coleman were married in the back of the telephone office
at Follett, Texas. They lived at Follett in the back of the White House
Lumber Company and Betty operated the Five and Ten Variety store.
After Robert's death in 1934, Betrty attended the Venus Beuty College at
Wichita, Kansas and then moved back to Perryton, where she met H.O. Haines.
They were married in 1936 at Lakin, Kansas, and lived in Kansas for 5 years.
In 1941, Betty and H.O. Haines moved back to the old homestead and then to the
town of Follett in 1974.
Betty was a member of Eastern Star and the W.A.C.
Betty died at the Ochiltree General Hospital in Perryton, Texas.
